Description

This is a great hike suitable for families in easy terrain. Especially for those who are interested in bird-watching, or fishing. When you walk through the bird reservation you must keep to the marked trails. It is prohibited to walk outside of the footpath. Bjoreio is well suited for angling with rod, but remember to buy a fishing licence, which allows you to fish!

You park your car at the mountainlodge Dyranut, on the “roof of Norway”- the Hardangervidda. Follow a marked footpath down to the left end of the lake Vetle Skiftesjøen, then down into the valley Bjoreidalen to the bridge by Nybu, approx. 1h. From here you can follow the path called “Store Nordmannsslepa” on the north side of the river Svinto up to the road and to the closed cabin Bjoreidalshytta, approx. 30 min. From here you can walk along the footpath and the gravel road Tinnhølvegen approx. 2h to the mountainlodge Trondsbu Turisthytta which serves food. Check the opening hours.

Take the minibus Viddabussen from Trondsbu at Lake Tinnhølen back to Dyranut.
