Description

Stavanger is situated in the south-western corner of Norway by the Boknafjorden fjord. The climate is typical Atlantic ocean climate with mild winters and somewhat cooler summers than what is found further south in the country. The number of inhabitants have reached about 130 000, and the municipality of Stavanger and the city of Stavanger is centrally located in a larger living- and work region known as the Stavanger region or North-Jaeren region. Stavanger is Norway's 4th largest city, 3rd largest city region, European Capital of Culture 2008 and a university town.
