Description

Sørmarka is the largest area for hiking in Stavanger featuring an 8 km network of paths and trails, several of which have lighting for evening walks. Stavanger Turistforening sells maps showing family hikes.

The highest point in Sørmarka is Ullandhaug, and reigning at the summit is Ullandhaug tower (64 m). From its balcony you have an amazing view over Nordjæren and the southern stretches of Ryfylke. At Christmas time, Ullandhaug Tower is lit up by hundreds of light bulbs and can be seen throughout much of the county.

The hill at Ullandhaugstårnet invites you for going sledging or skiing on white winter days.

Parking lot at the Ullandhaugtårnet.

Transport: Bus no. 4, 6 or 7 from Stavanger. Stop at Ullandhaug tower.
