Description

The cultural trail at Uppnose in Skjåk is set up to show the large system with 30 to 40 moose pits in the area. The trail takes you to 10 of these, on the Uppnose side of the river Åstri. One of the pits was excavated by archeologists in 1993. The excavations revealed that the pit system has been used over a very long time, from 200 A.D to 1.665, for shorter or longer perids during 1.500 years. The trail is not long, only 500 meters off the road (and same way back). It invites to a pleasant afternoon stroll.

How to get there
From Dønfoss (on road 15) in direction Bråtå. After 2,2 kms you reach Åstri mølle (mill) at the nordre Aamodt bridge. On the rigth hand side there is a bus stop. Here the trail starts.
