Description

Norway’s second largest glacier, Svartisen, stretches over
370 km2 and has a full 60 glacier arms. One of the most
famous glacial arms is Austerdalsisen in Rana Municipality. To reach the glacier arm, you may take a 20-minute boat trip over Svartisvatnet, followed by a 3 km hike to Austerdalsisen.

You can experience this exciting landscape, which was covered by the glacier just a few decades ago. Austerdalsisen deposits crevassed ice into the water and ice cold glacial rivers. It is a majestic sight.

The boat across Svartisvatnet only operates during the summer season. Please contact Polarsirkelen Reiseliv for boat schedules: Phone
