Getting to the Hamar region and around

The Hamar Region is located 120 kilometers north of Oslo, along the main road E6. It is rather easy to get to by car, train or bus.

Oslo and Oslo Airport are the main gateways for both international and national arrivals to Hamar.

Getting to the Hamar Region from Oslo

By car: 
Follow the E6 towards Trondheim/Hamar. The distance from Oslo is approximately 120 kilometers, which shouldn't take longer than 1 hour and 30 minutes or so.

By train: 
The Norwegian State Railways (NSB) has departures every hour from Oslo to Hamar. The approximate travel time is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

By express bus:
There are daily departures with Gudbrandalsekpressen and Nordfjordekspressen, both operated by Nor-Way Bussekspress, to Nydal Statoil, just outside the centre of Hamar. From there you can catch a local bus or a taxi into town. The total travel time from oslo is approximately 2 hours.

From Oslo Airport

By car:
Follow the E6 towards Trondheim/Hamar. The distance is around 88 kilometers, which by car on this road shouldn't take much more than an hour or so.

By train: 
There are hourly departures from Oslo Airport to Hamar with the Norwegian State Railways (NSB). The approximate travel time is 1 hour.

By express bus:
Norway-Way Bussekspress has daily departures to Nydal Statoil, just outside the center of Hamar. From there, catch a local bus or a taxi into town. The total travel time is approximately 1 hour.
