Where to stay in the Lillehammer Region

Choose from several hotels in Lillehammer center, stay in an old cotter's farm in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley, or spend the night at the Ice Hotel.

The Lillehammer Region has a long tradition as a tourist destination, and is home to Norway's very first mountain hotel, which opened at Skeikampen in 1876. Today, visitors to the area can choose between hotels, apartments or cabins of almost any size and in every price range.

Lillehammer town centre can offer hotel and hostel accommodation as well as camping. Excellent options in various price categories are Clarion Collection Hammer Hotel, Birkebeineren Hotel & Apartments, Lillehammer Hostel and Lillehammer Turistsenter. The Gudbrandsdalen Valley offers a choice of hotels, cabins or apartments, and attractive packages are available at the region's ski destinations during the winter as well as the summer season.

From ice hotel to cotter's farm

During the winter season, accommodation is available at theIce Hotel in the Winter Park at Hunderfossen. Reindeer skin rugs and high-quality winter sleeping bags will keep you warm as you spend the night in unique surroundings. At Øvre Kjæstad, Kvam, you can stay at an old cotter's farm, and Sygard Grytting at Hundorp features a medieval loft available for overnight stays. This historical building was used as lodging for pilgrims as early as in 1321.

Mountain resorts or city hotels

In the Lillehammer Region, mountain plateaus, the valley and the town centre are all within easy reach. Whereas some visitors are looking for a town-centre location, others prefer to have the ski tracks on their doorstep. Staying in the mountain, at resorts such as Gålå, Kvamsfjellet, Venabu, Espedalen, Skeikampen, Nordseter, Sjusjøen, Hafjell and Kvitfjell, is an excellent option. All accommodation providers in the Lillehammer Region can be found on the tourist office's website.
