Winter in Numedal

The mountains and valleys around Uvdal are usually covered in fresh snow from December to Easter.

Alpine skiing and snowboarding

The five ski resorts in Numedal (Vegglifjell, Fagerfjell, Uvdal, Blefjell and Dagali) offer downhill skiing, snowboarding, airboard and jibbing. Fagerfjell Skisenter has three ski lifts and seven slopes of varying difficulty. Here you will also find rails and jumps and two tobogganing slopes. Dagali Skisenter has a family friendly downhill area with three slopes. So has Blefjell. Vegglifjell Skisenter offers downhill skiing, snowboarding, jibbing and airboarding.

The ski resort in Uvdal consists of Uvdal Alpin (Uvdal Alpine Resort) and Alpinparken (the Alpine Park). They offer downhill skiing, snowboarding and jibbing. In total there are 25 slopes of varying difficulty. Both resorts offer skiing lessons and ski rentals and have cafés where you can buy hot and cold meals and drinks. Uvdal Alpin has a designated children’s slope, and Alpinparken has jumps, fun boxes, corners and rails for jibbers.

For the children

All the resorts are family-friendly with both easy and more challenging slopes, as well as lots of activities. Uvdal Alpinsenter has a separate area just for children, with their own “lift” and a variety of easy challenges.

Ski rental

Blefjell, Fagerfjell and Uvdal Alpinsenter all offer ski rentals.

Ski school

There are ski schools at Fagerfjell and at Uvdal Alpinsenter.

Cross-country skiing

There are about 80 kilometres of prepared tracks in easy mountain terrain at Vegglifjell, as well as a variety of more challenging tracks. These also connect to DNT’s (Norwegian Trekking Association) network of tracks and self-serviced cabins.

In the Blefjell/Fagerfjell area you will find around 100 kilometres of prepared cross-country tracks in winter.

In Nore og Uvdal, over 400 kilometres of cross-country tracks are prepared each year in the mountains as well as in the lower valley, offering a wide range of areas and levels of difficulty to choose from. Dagalifjell has the largest network of tracks, but also Åsbøseterdalen, Tunhovd and Imingjfell have excellent tracks.

Winter without skis

Skiing is not the only way to have fun. Langedrag Nature Park is open all year, and here the whole family can see native wild animals up close. For the thrill seekers out there, how about driving rally cars on ice or being part of an elk safari on snow mobiles? Dog sledding and ice fishing are also popular activities. Both Dagali Skisenter and Fagerfjell offer tobogganing.

Where to stay

In Numedal you can stay in accommodations close to the resorts, apartments, individual cabins or traditional mountain lodges.
