What to do in Vrådal

Hiking

Vrådal has 50 miles of waymarked trails both in the woods and in the mountains. The most popular hiking areas are Venelifjell and Vrådal Panorama/Hægefjell.

Guided boat trip

During the summer months you can go for a guided tour on Lake Nisser with the veteran boat M/S Fram. The trip takes you between the tiny islands and through one of the old locks.

Golf

Open every day in the summer season, Vrådal Golf course is a 9-hole golf course that can offer a driving range, putting range and a cafeteria with pro-shop.

Water activities and cycling

In Vrådal, Straand Sommerland welcomes you with a sandy beach and playgrounds, trampolines, beach-volleyball courts, lawns and sandpits. Here you can also hire rowing boats, canoes and bicycles. There are several routes for cycling on roads with little traffic, from 3 to 62 miles.

Fishing

There are several lakes for fishing in the Vrådal area. The largest lakes, Nisser and Vråvatn, are easily accesible fom the roads and by boat. For smaller lakes and ponds you need directions and maps. A fishing license is required for adults over 16 years of age and is for sale at the tourist information and at Quality Straand Hotel & Resort.

Museums

Kviteseid Museum of local history and Kviteseid Old Church
Flekstveitstoga is a prominent farmhouse dating back to the 1600s and forms the main building of the Kviteseid Museum of Local History. Built in the 1100s, the Old Church at Kviteseid is a Romanesque-style church. Distance from Vrådal is 3 miles.

The Norwegian Ski Adventure Centre in Morgedal
Sondre Norheim, the father of modern skiing, was born in Morgedal in 1825. Through advanced multi media shows, films and exciting exhibitions, the centre exhibits the history of skiing. In one of the exhibition halls you get to learn about Olav Bjaaland who was part of Roald Amundsen's expedition to the South Pole in 1911. Distance from Vrådal is 66 miles.

Vest-Telemark Museum in Eidsborg
The museum shows you centuries of long traditions in folk arts and handicrafts, with richly decorated works of silver, wood and textiles.

Åmdals Verk Mines
