Big fish are waiting by the Atlantic Road. At famous fishing destinations such as Smøla and Averøy you can hire a boat or let a skipper take you out to sea. Along the deep, blue fjords, waters are more sheltered and offer plentiful fishing for the whole family. Main season for fishing is March – October, even though more and more fishermen find their way to this region year round. No wonder, since the fishing is so good here.
You will find species such as cod, halibut, haddock, pollock, saithe, mackerel, herring, cusk and ling.
In addition to sea fishing, you should try fishing in the famous salmon and trout rivers such as Surna and Driva. Also the currents of Smøla offer excellent sea trout fishing. You may also try fly-fishing for pollock, a great spring adventure. There are also numerous fishing lakes, both on the mainland and on the islands.
Fishing guides are available upon request. Rent a boat and let the guide come along and show you the best fishing spots.
The best time for fishing is between March and the end of October. But fishing is possible all year.
