Tour suggestions in Molde and Romsdal

Follow these tour suggestions to visit the highlights of Molde and Romsdal: the Trollstigen Mountain Road and the Atlantic Road.

Molde – the fishing village of Bud – the Atlantic Road

Follow fv. 64 from Molde in the direction of Eide to Moa, then turn left and follow fv. 663/fv. 664 from Elnesvågen to Bud. Continue northwards along Hustadvika to Hustad, Farstad, Vevang and the Atlantic Road. Continue to Bremsnes and drive through the new tunnel Atlanterhavstunnellen (toll road) to Kristiansund. Return to Molde on the fv. 70/E39 to Batnfjord and Molde.

Distances: Molde – Bud 45 kilometres; Bud – Atlantic Road 25 kilometres
Estimated time: three hours one way

Molde – Åndalsnes – the Trollstigen Mountain Road – Valldal – Geiranger

From Molde follow fv. 64 southwards to Sølsnes, take the ferry to Åfarnes, and continue to Åndalsnes. E136/fv. 63 takes you up the Trollstigen Mountain Road and further on to Valldal. Take the ferry from Linge to Eidsdal, and then continue along the fv. 63 to Geiranger.

Distances: Molde – Åndalsnes 55 kilometres (+ ferry Sølsnes – Åfarnes); Åndalsnes – Trollstigen Mountain Road five kilometres; Trollstigen Mountain Road – Geiranger 80 kilometres (+ ferry Linge – Eidsdal)
Estimated time: five hours one way

Molde – the fishing village of Ona

Follow fv. 662 from Molde to Hollingsholmen, where you catch a ferry to Aukra. From Aukra drive to Småge. Ferry from Småge to Ona. There are limited departures, especially at weekends, so check the ferry schedule before you start your trip.

Distances: Molde – Hollingsholmen – Aukra – Småge 30 kilometres (ferry between Småge and Ona)
Estimated time: three hours one way

The Eikesdalen Valley – Mardalsfossen Waterfall – the Aursjøvegen Road

From Molde, follow fv. 62 to Eidsvåg, turn right to Eresfjord and fv. 660. Follow the road along Eikesdalsvatnet Lake. Parking in Mardalen, a 45-minute walk up to the Mardalsfossen Waterfall. Continue along the Aursjøvegen Road. Continue to Torbudalen, Sunndalen and back to Molde.

Distances: Molde – Eikesdal 110 kilometres; Eikesdal – Aursjøen – Sunndalsøra 70 kilometres; Sunndalsøra – Molde 70 kilometres.
Estimated time: three hours one way (Molde - Aursjøen)
