Winter in Ryfylke

Start your winter adventure in Sauda.

With unspoiled scenery, a snowboard park, and floodlit slopes for for downhill skiing and floodlit cross-country skiing tracks, Sauda offers fun skiing for the entire family. In Sauda, excellent skiing is virtually guaranteed from the New Year and well into April.

Ski boat

Down by the fjord, the snow rarely lingers, and spring appears early. If you want the best of both worlds, you can take the boat to your skiing holiday in Ryfylke. The ski boat from Stavanger to Sauda includes a day pass to the ski lifts, and there is a free ski bus from Sauda town centre to the Svandalen and Sauda ski resorts.

An excellent alternative is to explore the hiking trails near the fjord on foot, with lunch and something warm to drink in your backpack. Or just lean back and enjoy the view from the sightseeing boat that sails the famous Lysefjord every Saturday throughout the winter.

Winter fishing

Winter is a great time for fishing in the ice free fjords, especially near the islands and in the heart of Ryfylke. Afterwards, you can relax in front of the fire in a warm cabin, enjoy a sauna or a hot tub.
