Boat trips

See the Sognefjord from a boat. The most famous fjord arms are Nærøyfjord and Fjærlandsfjorden, two of the narrowest and most dramatic parts of the Sognefjord. The Nærøyfjord is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The fresh spring and the colourful autumn season are the best seasons to go on a fjord cruise.

• Ferry trip on Nærøyfjord/Sognefjord
  The car ferries between Gudvangen, Kaupanger and Lærdal run daily from 1 May until 30 September. On this two - three-hour long trip you get to experience some of the most beautiful fjord landscapes in the world.
• Boat trip on the Nærøyfjord/Aurlandsfjord
  A passenger boat runs between Flåm, Aurland and Gudvangen all year. Several departures daily in the summer season. On this trip you will discover both the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord.
• Sogndal/Flåm - Bergen
  Modern express boats depart from Sogndal for Bergen daily throughout the year. On their way to or from Bergen, these boats call at several villages along the fjord, including Leikanger, Balestrand and Vik. From 1 May to 30 September express boats also run daily from Flåm to Leikanger, Balestrand and Bergen.
• Tour on the Fjærlandsfjord
  A two-hour ferry trip on the Fjærlandsfjord sails daily between Balestrand, Hella and Fjærland from 1 May until 30 September.

Spectacular mountain passes

Majestic steep mountains surround the Sognefjord. You can drive through the mountain areas on scenic mountain routes and go hiking, climbing, summer skiing and fishing, or just sit back and relax while enjoying the fresh air and the stunning scenery. • The Sognefjell Road (Rv. 55)
  This scenic hight mountain road winds its way between mountain peaks on the edge of the Jotunheimen National Park. Awarded the status as a National Tourist road. Lots of marked hiking trails.
• Aurlandsfjellet  (Rv. 243) - the “snow road” between the fjords
  This mountain road connects the vibrant tourist towns of Lærdal and Aurland.  The 48-kilometre long road has a new panorama platform with a fantastic view of the fjord and surrounding mountains. The highest point is at 1,306 metres above sea level.
• The Gaularfjell Road (Rv. 13)
  The mountain road between Dragsvik (Balestrand) and Moskog (Førde) takes you through a landscape of waterfalls, hairpin bends and breathtaking views.
• Tindevegen - Årdal to Turtagrø 
  This road takes you up to the mountains, Jotunheimen and the Sognefjell Road. Enjoy spectacular views!
• The Vikafjell Road (Rv. 13)
  The mountain road between Voss and Vik is full of contrasts and nature-based experiences with waterfall, lakes and easy hikes straight from the road.
• Filefjell  (E16)
  From Lærdal to Valdres, a modern and historic route.
• Hemsedal ( Rv. 52)
  From Lærdal via Hemsedal to Gol, a good alternative.
• Årdal to Tyin  (Rv. 53)
  The road from Årdal to Tyin goes through varied scenery.
• Aurlandsdalen (Rv. 50)
  From Aurland via the Aurlandsdalen Valley to Hol. Viewpoint at Lavisberget. Several marked hiking paths on the way.
