By boat and ferry

Express boats to and from adjacent municipalities or on their way to and from Bergen and Stavanger call at Leirvik. Ferries ply the fjords and the many express boats provide fast and comfortable transport. For more information and timetables, please contact Fjord1 and Rødne Fjord Cruise.

Some of the historical boats that were built in Sunnhordland still transport people to and around the area to this day.

By bus

Nor-Way Bussekspress has express buses to and from adjacent municipalities, as well as buses on their way to and from Bergen and Stavanger, which call at Leirvik. The Expressbuss  from Oslo to Sunnhordland drives over the Haukeli Mountain and stops in Haugesund for further bus connections to Sunnhordland.

There is also a well-developed local bus service in the districts and to/from the airports in Stord, Haugesund and Bergen.

By seaplane

In Sunnhordland you will find the biggest seaplane company in Northern Europe - Fonnafly. Fonnafly operates seven Cessna seaplanes. The planes are based in different locations around Western and Eastern Norway.

The company also has three helicopters that can be used for transportation or for unique sightseeing trips in Hardanger and over the Folgefonna Glacier.

Stord Airport

You will find the regional airport on the island of Stord. Stord Airport is used by both regular airlines and charters, and is easily accessible from the whole region.
