Dining in Sunnhordland

In Sunnhordland, you can enjoy a meal in Scandinavia's smallest "palace", as well as being served by the best chef in the world.

World class chefs

Ørjan Johannessen (2015) and Geir Skeie (2009) have both won Bocuse d'Or, and they both run restaurants in Sunnhordland: Ørjan is one of the chefs at Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri - perhaps you get your food served by the champion himself. Geir Skeie, on the other hand, runs the restaurant Brygga 11, Geir Skeie.

Both places you will find menus designed and put together by the world championsthemselves.

Restaurants large and small

Local food and short-traveled food as well as local traditions are emphasized in Sunnhordland. Wild sheep, Salma salmon, oysters, crayfish, raspberries from Fitjar, the Fitjar-potato and deer are among the products of which the locals are proud.

Haaheim Gaard is one of the most well-known restaurants in Sunnhordland. They focus on creating memories for life. Haaheim Gaard and Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri are both members of "De historiske hotel og spisesteder" ("Historic hotels and restaurants").

The restaurant Martha Meidell at Rosendal Turisthotell is also well worth a visit.

There are restaurants in town and village centers, often part of hotels, across Sunnhordland. There is also a wide variety of cafés and pubs, where both local and international food are served. You will find traditional, locally-produced food served at many cultural attractions in the area.
