The Bergen and Flåm railways with Authentic Scandinavia AS

Travel between Oslo and Bergen on the spectacular Bergen Railway, and take a side trip with the Flåm Railway to the Norwegian fjords.

The Bergen Railway

The Bergen Railway is one of the world's most scenic train journeys, and connects Norway's two largest cities: Oslo and Bergen. The train ride takes about seven hours and passes spectacular scenery of forests, farmland, waterfalls, mountains and villages. The most impressive stretch is the Hardangervidda, Europe's largest mountain plateau, and the highest point, Finse, is located at 1,222 metres above sea level. The Bergen Railway can be experienced daily all year, and every season has its own beauty.

The Flåm Railway and the Norwegian fjords

A highly recommended addition to the Bergen Railway is the Flåm Railway, which connects the Bergen Railway with the fjords. The Flåm Railway runs every day from the mountain station of Myrdal to the fjord village of Flåm. The train journey starts from a height of almost 900 metres above sea level and passes through wild and beautiful mountain scenery with waterfalls and steep mountain sides. There is no steeper railway in the world running on normal gauge over a long distance. Half way down the Flåm Railway the train makes a photo stop at the impressive Kjosfossen Waterfall. Once you reach Flåm you can continue by boat along the Norwegian fjords, past a number of fjord villages and eventually Bergen
