Description

One of Norway’s oldest and biggest national parks (1447 km2). There are no marked trails or tourist cabins in the park. It is desolate, wild and beautiful which is probably best suited for experienced hikers, even though the terrain seems easy enough to walk through. Børgefjell offers excellent trout fishing, as well as good small game and grouse hunting. There are a few open shelters and some cabins there for rental.

Further details available at www.statskog.no or www.visithelgeland.com . The Børgefjell maps offer useful information about the national park in Norwegian, German and English, and are on sale at Hattfjelldal town hall and the tourist information centres.
