Deatnu/ Tana is a municipality where the Saami, Norwegian and Finnish languages are spoken. People live in vigorous villages from Tanadalen valley till the mouth of the river Tana and Tanafjord.
The Saami days in Austertana, Skiippagurra festival, Langnesmarket and Lavvonjarg days express the scope of multicultural Deatnu/ Tana. River Tana and tributaries are the world’s most important place for fishing salmon. The mouth of the river Tana is the largest unspoilt delta area in Europe.
