With stable catches of about 15 to 20 tons, Numedalslågen is rated as one of Norway's 5 best salmon rivers every year. Brufossfisket organizes 40 landowners on both banks of the upper 12 km of the salmonbearing section of the Lågen river.
Well organized public angling at a reasonable price has a long tradition here at Brufoss, an area where occupational fishing is non-existent.
Here we aim to make it possible for all visitors - as well as the fishermen - to experience river banks and wildlife animals.
Angling regulations in the Lågen River are as follows:
From Larvik to Holmfoss fishing from mid-May to 20th of August
Upstream Holmfoss to Hvittingfoss fishing from June 10th to end of August.
The salmon will usually reach Kjærrafossen in early June and reach Brufoss at the end of June.
Angling opportunities will vary at certain places according to fluctuating water flow. The Lågen river is a giant waterway with a relatively stable water flow throughout the angling season, but it can be somewhat influenced by rain, snow melting and power production.
