Description

The vast archipelago offers excellent opportunities to explore. At most islands, plenty of mooring pins are available. Please take the weather conditions into account. The early evening breeze can be strong in summer, and it is wise to find somewhere providing shelter from the wind.

Below are some recommended spots close to the town centre, which can easily be reached with smaller vessels such as the open boat with a 4 hp outboard motor available for hire from the tourist office.

Store Hampholmen and Lille Hampholmen.
A very popular option as sheltered areas are easy to find in the straits between and around the two islands. Several secluded, picturesque spots with small sandy beaches. Quay and toilet facilities.

Teistholmen.
With its beautiful, sheltered sandy beach, Teistholmen is the ideal spot for families with children. A wonderful, smooth rocky shore and several potholes can also be found on the island. Quay and toilet facilities.

Ytre Maløya and Indre Maløya.
Two large islands with an abundance of beauty spots and plenty of mooring.
Indre Maløya offers toilet facilities. Ytre Maløya has a number of quays, offers toilet facilities and has a large grassy field.

Vaholmen.
A smooth, beautiful outer shore and calm, sheltered mooring on the inside. The island has a large grassy field and is ideal for camping.

Valøyene.
A group of islands and islets with small picturesque bays and beaches. The islands are in beautiful red Fjære granite. Toilet facilities available at some of the islands.

Auesøya.
Auesøya is a landscape conservation area, renowned for its display of daffodils in spring. The island can be found to the far west in Grimstad municipality. A number of beautiful bays with beaches. Toilet facilities.
