Description

Songdalen has just over 6000 inhabitants. The municipality has large recreational areas, with woods and quiet lakes offering peaceful spots for everyone. In the 1990s Songdalen was one of the areas in Norway with the greatest density of elk, but now the population has been officially reduced.

A rare type of ”meander-river” runs throughout the area. If the waterflow is high, a trip with canoe is recommended. The municipal can also offer a variety of excellent nature trails.

Porsmyr is a living museum. The buildings are from around 1850, and are located at Rismyr. The buildings have been restored by volunteers. In addition to barn and living area there is an old storehouse, a cobbler’s workshop and a functional forge where old-time knife-making is demonstrated during the summer.
