When you enter the chieftains house you feel the atmosphere of the iron age. The light flickers from the fireplace and the lamps burning with codliveroil.

Description

Come and experience the great Viking Winter Sacrifice! The Chieftain and his wife welcome you to take part in a Winter Sacrifice Feast in the grand Guildhall. Feel the magic and the thrill of the ceremony of sacrifice to the Gods to avoid Ragnarok – the Last Days.

Upon arriving at the museum the guide will handle out audio guides for the movie theater and the exhibitions. Then we meet in the "glassgården" for a drink, and the guide tells about the
Vikings´ view of the world; their fear of the Fimbul Winter, which indicates the beginning of Ragnarok – the Last Days.

The guide will inform you about the Sacrifice to honour the Gods and the dead of the family society. Will Volva, the Prophetess make signs for winter solstice?

Thereafter we proceed to the Chieftains house and you will be met by Sigrid. She is the sister of Åshild – the Lady of the house. Each and every one will be decently dressed up for the ritual and welcomed into the Guildhall. It's time for Vinterblot – the Winter Sacrifice Ceremony!

During the stay we serve you a two course meal based on Lofoten Mutton Dish and fish, made and presented the real Viking way. The Chieftain, the Lady and the Lofotr people give a special entertainment for you with songs and storytelling.
You may also be invited into the dance circle around the hearth as a and to the visit.
