Destination Røros offers a pulsating cultural life, wild and unspoilt nature, two national parks, a dramatic history and locally produced food of superb quality. At the heart of Røros you find Europe’s oldest preserved timber town, which appears on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites.
The region is easily accessible, has extremely stable snow conditions and is able to offer skiing activities in most types of weather. You will find open mountain plateaux and forest-clad valleys. The Røros plateau is situated 600-800 metres above sea level, with summits as high as 1,600 metres above sea level, and represents an agreeable challenge to most people.
