Description

Looking for the absolute best rafting adventure? Then take a trip to the River Sjoa! The River Sjoa is one of the best and most diverse rafting rivers in the world. Its varied waters makes rafting the Sjoa ideal for almost everyone, from complete novices to expert rafters.

Day trip on the river Sjoa

A day trip rafting the most popular stretch of the river. Extremely varied waters, with calm sections separated by narrow gorges and gushing rapids. This is our most popular trip, and suitable for everyone. A hot lunch is served at our base after the trip.

Age limit: Must be at least 15 years old on the year of participation
Season: May – October
Duration: About 5 hours

Short rafting trip in the river Sjoa

This is a shorter version of the day trip on the River Sjoa, but still takes you through the best rapids. It is normally an afternoon trip on the middle part of the river. Coffee and tea is served at our base after the trip.

Age limit: Must be at least 15 years old on the year of participation
Season: May – October
Duration: About 3 hours

Family rafting in the Otta river.

A rafting adventure for the whole family. Lots of fun and action. Swimming in the river, jumping from high cliffs and rafting through nice rapids through breathtaking countryside. Coffee, tea and ice-cream is served at our base after the trip.

Age limit: From 6 years of age
Season: May – October
Duration: About 3 hours

Canyoning

Canyoning is quite a different wild adventure, as you traverse cliff tops, waterfalls and deep water pools, with the highlight of the trip being jumping and abseiling into narrow gorges. The enchanting gorges around the river Sjoa present new and challenging natural adventures. Whilst canyoning, most participants feel they break through many of their own personal barriers. A Canyoning adventure promises various “water slides”, traversing ropeways into the water, abseiling up to 30 meters through waterfalls, swimming in giant’s cauldrons, exploring waterfalls and leaping from cliffs up to 15-meter high.

Age limit: 15 years/ Family trip 10 years
Season: June – October
Duration: About 5 hours

Riverboarding the river Sjoa

On a riverboard you feel the incredible sensation of being at one with the river. Experience big waves and narrow gorges in a completely different way from rafting. As you lie on the riverboard on the water’s surface the river’s fast current pushes you downstream, yet your flippers give you full control over the board. The experience peaks when you find the perfect wave to surf. Riverboarding promises a full-on adventure and is guaranteed to get the adrenalin pumping.

Age limit: Must be at least 18 years old on the year of participation
Season: June – October
Duration: About 5 hours

Bridge swinging

Bridge swinging is an adrenaline driving experience where we jump off high suspension bridges secured by climbing ropes and gear. The rope is fixed at the middle of the bridge, while the jumper walks towards the end of the bridge pulling the rope tight before jumping off. The rush diving off the bridge towards the water below is mindblowing. Do you dare to take the plunge?

Age: 15
Season: May-October
Duration: ca. 10-15 min pr. person, min. 6 persons

Wilderness Camp at Sjoa Rafting Center.

Our wilderness camp is 200 meters from our main base, idyllic location by the river Lågen with large, undisturbed greenery around. We have lavoos in different sizes with capacity from 8 to 25 persons. All the lavvos have hardwood floors and a fire pit. There are tables, benches and bonfires outside the lavvo. You can borrow mattresses. Close to the camp you'll find a white sandy beach where you can swim and sunbathe or fish for trout.
