Description

Øigardseter Mountain Lodge is beautifully situated at Høvringen – gateway to the mighty mountain ranges of Rondane.

At Øigardseter lodge we offer accommodation in historical surroundings, either at our lodge, in modern apartments or in our large cabin. All our guests can enjoy a breakfast and lunch buffet and a three-course dinner, whilst enjoying fantastic views over the mountains and Gudbrandsdalen. Our cosy living room is the perfect place to relax with a good book, in front of the open fire.

Øigardseter has been welcoming guests for almost 100 years. At present, it’s the third and fourth generation of Øigardseter’s team that welcomes you and they continue to deliver the same great level of service and comfort that makes our loyal guests want to visit time and time again.

The Lodge

What could be better than enjoying a few days in the lodge’s tranquillity, with the beauty and adventure of the mountains awaiting you outside?
Come with someone you love and share a walk together in the area’s glorious surroundings. Øigardseter is ideal for anyone wanting to experience the magic of a traditional, authentic Norwegian mountain lodge. Tuck into delicious home-made food whilst admiring magnificent views over the mighty mountains.

Our cosy living rooms are great for relaxing, having a good chat and a glass of wine, or simply reading a good book in front of the open fire.

Apartments

If you would like to prepare some of your own meals, or simply want a little more space, we have very good two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment has a living room with TV and kitchenette, large bathroom and a bedroom with double bed. If you need more sleeping space, there’s a sofa-bed in the living room or an extra bed.

We also have a three-room apartment. The living room is part of the original old farmhouse that was built at Øigardseter in the early 1800s. The traditional living room has thick, wood walls and a large soapstone fireplace, while the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom offer modern comfort. There is a double bed and a bunk bed in the bedrooms and also space for an extra bed, making it ideal accommodation for a family of five.

Guests in our apartments have full access to all our facilities and are welcome to eat at the lodge.

Large cabin

For larger families or groups we offer a cabin with a total of 7 bedrooms that can accommodate about 18 people. The accommodation is simple, with a wash basin in each room and a shared shower / toilet. The large cabin has a cosy lounge with a fireplace and a modern, fully-equipped kitchen with dining table. It also boasts a sauna and guests of course have access to all our facilities.

The living rooms

The living rooms at Øigardseter lodge are preserved in a traditional Gudbrandsdal style. A collection of antiques and artefacts, together with our centuries-old kitchen dresser with its carvings and floral paintings, help shape its warm and intimate atmosphere. In the oldest living room, the original wooden walls are well preserved and promise peace in its cosy interior.

After your adventures in the mountains, have a glass of wine together friends or relax in front of the fireplace with a good book. We also have lots of board games and even a pool table.

Traditional food

At Øigardseter lodge, we pride ourselves in fulfilling our guests culinary desires. Our food is based on traditional Norwegian recipes that have been handed down for generations, ever since we welcomed our first guests in the early 1900s.

Our breakfast and lunch buffets offer a good selection of both hot and cold dishes and include everything from cheeses and cured meats, to an assortment of salads and traditional sour-cream porridge.

In the evening you can enjoy a three-course dinner with everything from reindeer steak to trout fillets.

If you have any allergies or special requests, we are happy to cater to your needs.
