Description

The area of Kvernes has well kept burial grounds that cover the last 4000 years of our history. Along Hulveien/the old church path from Bådalen, many families have carried their children to baptism and their dead to their grave. From the seaside and towards the area, there are also traces from people taking the sea route in the same errand.

Rarely have cultural memories with this variation and time spectre linked people's relationship with religion/burial custom been this well kept. With the church and cemetary still in use, the place's charachter is continued into modern time.
