Description

Take the Hjertøya boat from the Molde harbour (mid-June to mid-August) over to the idyllic Hjertøya island. After about 10 minutes by boat you get to the pier at Hjertøya where the Fisheries Museum is located. Here you can join one of the guided tours during the opening hours in the summer.

A nature trail is signed from the museum and westwards. Along the way you will find information boards where one can read about nature, birds, animals, etc. The terrain is not very difficult, you walk in heather and on rocks. One can choose to go all the way to Hjertøytangen (about 1 hour one way), or follow the trail back east to the Fisheries Museum from the benches. The trail out to Hjertøytangen is marked with fine painted red hearts!

On weekends in summer the cafe is open at Hjertøyplassen where the Hjertøya Assosiation are hosts. The nature trail is well suited for the families, and at the highest point you find picnic benches, and the children can play in the nearby trees.  At Hjertøyplassen there is also a nice playground for the kids. On hot summer days we recommend to bring your swimwear too. The Fisheries Museum also has boats rental (rowing boats).

Equipment for the nature trail: good hiking/jogging shoes are recommended.
