Description

Follow the marked trail to Finnbunuten from Voss Fjellandsby in Myrkdalen, via Helgatun and Vetlebotn.

This is a family-friendly hike with a trail that is easy to negotiate. However, it is relatively long with the journey to the summit from Voss Fjellandsby / Helgatun measuring 900 meters, and 650 meters from Vetlebotn. The hike can be reduced somewhat by driving along the toll-road to Vetlebotn (700 meters above sea level) and starting the walk from there.

On a clear day you can enjoy magnificent views of glaciers such as Hardangerjøkulen, Jostedalsbreen and Folgefonna. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of some reindeer, as the  grazing ground in the area surrounding Finnbunuten is vital for the wild reindeer during the summer and autumn months.

Distance: 8 km and 4-5 hour return trip
Climb: 950m
Season: July – October
Level of difficulty: Blue (moderate)
Starting point: Voss Fjellandsby – Myrkdalen
Map reference: Myrkdalen 1:50 000 (Statens kartverk), Voss 1:50 000 (Ugland IT)
Comments: The road to Vetlebotn is a toll-road. Myrkdalen Hotel in Voss Fjellandsby offers a good choice of food and overnight accommodation. Find out more at www.myrkdalenhotel.no
