Description

Starting point for this hike can be either Lemme or Oppheim.

You can either drive from Lemme or you can walk along the gravel farm-road until you reach the parking area at Liaset farm. The gravel road is steep at the start, but eases off gradually. From Liaset, follow the trail marked with a T. Proceed uphill until you cross a stream running from the Krokasetvatnet lake. An old dam built from rocks can be seen where the stream leaves the lake. This used to be opened when water was needed to operate the mill at Hefte. The trail continues uphill to the top of Kolingseggi (941 m) and then heads downhill where it crosses the trail to Helgaset. From here the trail goes uphill again to Skorseteggi, first to a summit at 965 m, then to a cairn marking the highest point of the hike (971 m). At Skorseteggi the panorama view is spectacular. The hike continues downhill past Øyjordstjørni, then on to Øyjordstølen before reaching Øyjordi, where you can follow the road to Oppheim.

Fauna:
Elk, deer, fox, stoat and European pine marten are the most common wild mammals.

Birds:
You can often spot Wood Grouse and Black Grouse. Of the carnivorous birds the Rough-legged Buzzard is the most common. If you are lucky, you can see a Golden Eagle or a Northern Goshawk. In the years where the rodents breed prolifically you may also see a Northern Hawk-Owl or a Eurasian Pygmy Owl

Fish:
There are fish in all the lakes along the trail: Øyjordstjørni, Skorsetvatnet and Krokasetvatnet.

Geology:
Schist is the most common type of rock to be found in the area between Oppheim and Lemme. Schist is derived from various layers of clay, which have been subjected to a series of metamorphic processes (pressure at 5kb and temperatures around 400 °C). Graphite can be found in some of the darker schist, which is created by organic matter.

Distance: The hike is 13,2 km long and takes approximately 6 hours.
