Description

The International Edvard Grieg Competition is held at Edvard Grieg’s home in Bergen.

In 2000 professor Einar Steen-Nøkleberg founded the Piano Competition “Concours Grieg” in Oslo. The competition has been a joint venture between European Piano Teacher’s Association, Oslo Music Teacher’s Association and Oslo Grieg Society, and has been arranged every year since the very beginning. The level of the competitors has been extraordinary high every year, so has the number of participants.

From 2000 till 2011 the competition was located at the State Academy of Music in Oslo, and according to the Solo Competition, it was for many years also arranged competitions for 4-hands and for two Pianos. In 2012 the Competition was moved to Edvard Grieg’s home, Troldhaugen in Bergen. The competition became a member of Argerich-Alink Foundation in 2004 and the name of the competition today is: The International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition.
