If you're interested in an active holiday, Sunnhordland is an exiting and different alternative.

 

Suggestion 1: Experience the glacier Folgefonna

Drive to Jondal. From the fjord in Jondal there is a 19 km drive to the glacier. A guide will bring you to the top of Folgefonna, either on foot in the blue ice or by skiing. This is a 5-6 hour blue ice trip that fits everyone (from 8 years) who is in a normal good shape. After the trip you can take the ferry to Tysnes and have a three-course dinner at the historical restaurant Haaheim Gaard. They also have accommodation. Alternatively you can drive through Kvinnherad to Stord and eat and sleep at the full service hotel Stord Hotell.

Suggestion 2: Bicycle trip including luggage transport

Experience Sunnhordland from the bicycle seat! This trip starts with the Hardangerfjordexpress from Bergen to Rosendal, Kvinnherad. You’ll visit Rosendal, famous for its Barony, the village Skånevik, well-known for its Blues Festival and the idyllic trading station of Bekkjarvik. This is a 5-day trip where accommodation, food, ferry tickets and luggage transport is included. Return to Bergen. Price NOK 6850,-

Suggestion 3: Fjord cruise and festivals

Take a trip with the veteran ship M/S Granvin in July and experience the open ocean and the coast of Sunnhordland from the sea! The ship sails from Bergen four weekends in July and has several stops along the route in Sunnhordland. Price from NOK 1800,- incl. accommodation. If you choose the weekend 5 - 7 July or 12 - 14 July you have the chance to sail with M/S Granvin to the festival "Tysnesfest" or "Skånevik blues festival".
