Description

Trappers Dinner.

Join us for a 2-course dinner in a cosy hut at our Trappers station, located close to mine number 7.

We have an authentic Trapper’s Hut, trip wired Polar Bear trap, a large traditional turf, satellite station and a Dog Yard with 95 happy Alaska huskies. The area is developed in a way that you may experience an authentic Trapper’s Station with seal deposits, traps and other equipment which still are commonly used by trappers in Svalbard today!

When visiting the Trapper’s Station you will be given information how the Trappers survived, and made themselves a living, in the wilderness.  It is possible to feel and experience how the trappers adapted their huts and lives when they were wintering and hunting. The interior of the Trappers Hut has authentic furniture such as Russian drift wood and homemade interior.

The Trapper’s Hut is decorated with books, pictures and cultural items which illustrate the history and the life of a trapper’s life. The authentic atmosphere will free you from modern day’s stress, and we invite you to join us for a different Dinner in the cozy hut.
