Description

On 7 June 1913, the Norwegian America Line commenced its service from Bergen to New York. With great festivity this was marked as one of the most important events for Norway as an independent state. It was also a milestone for the port of Bergen and for its tourism industry.

We are marking the centenary of the inauguration of the Norwegian America Line with a new, large exhibit. - How was the Norwegian America Line established? - How did the transatlantic passenger business work? - Who travelled on the Norwegian America Line? - How was life on board?
