Description

Geiranger – Skageflå – Homlong
The hillside farm where world natural heritage was celebrated in 2006 and where the royal celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in 1993.
The trip starts by boat from Geiranger. You disembark at Skagehola and start climbing the trail winding its way uphill. It is very steep, but steps have been carved into the rocks along the most exposed stretches, and the trail is secured by hand rails. It is a very popular outing, also used a lot by families with children; however, smaller children should not walk there alone. Grand view all along, and a rather majestic vista from the farm: the fjord and the waterfall s “Dei sju systre” (The Seven Sisters”)

A good trail continues uphill from Skageflå (250 m.a.s.l.) in steep and somewhat airy terrain to Homlongsætra (summer dairy)(544 m.a.s.l.). Along the way you pass by the summer dairy remains at Bjønnastien.

From Homlungsætra to Homlong you walk gently downhill on a route which all along is close to the precipice towards the fjord. Several cultural heritage sites next to the path are marked.
