The Risør wooden boat festival "Risør trebåtfestival" is the most popular festival of its kind in the region and takes place in August each year. People travel from afar to see unique old wooden boats on display and they can get a sense of how they were built. 

Maritime town Risør, has a long and extensive history with wooden boat building with some manufacturers still in existance today.

The festival program has something for the whole family with special activities for children, a variety of concerts, performances and historical flashbacks to the old days.
