The summer in the Lyngen Alps is exciting – mountain peaks rising more than 1000 Meter directly from the fjord, deep valleys, big glaciers, cascading rivers and green forests. A rich farmer’s life, small villages and many historical sites are worth to visit. In this week, you will enjoy the best of Lyngen – on a horseback, by foot, driving around to see the midnight sun and try your fish luck. You will stay in a cabin, made of timber that looks like an old Viking house. Most of the food we serve is made from local farmers or caught in the Lyngenfjord. We want to invite you to experience an exciting Lyngen summer!

Itinerary

Day 1: We pick you up in Tromsø (Airport) and will drive along the countless fjords towards Lyngen. You will have a fantastic view over the mountains before we reach our goal. After 1,5 hours we arrive at the Lyngenfjord and on our farm. You will check in at the accommodation place and be served dinner after that.

Day 2: After a proper Norwegian breakfast, we start with a hike. We will walk down to the sea, do some bird watching and hopefully see some porpoise. Our goal is to climb the hill “Sieiddicohkka” (165 m over sea level). This name, also called “Seidi Sokka”, is a Sami name and means “the holy hill”. In the old times, the Sami people sacrified to their god, hoping for good weather and fish luck. After lunch with history telling we are going back to the camp.  The tour will take about 4 – 5 hours.

There will be some free time to relax or to explore the closer region before we serve dinner in the main house.

Day 3: Today we will explore the Lyngen Alps on a horseback. We are using Lyngen horses – an old breed from the region. They are very strong and good to ride as well in difficult terrain. You will be a part of the work, preparing the horse before the tour. We will ride on gravel roads, backcountry, doing some breaks, have a lunch, and after 3 – 4 hours, we come back. We have all necessary equipment and you do not need to be an experienced rider to have a nice time.

Later we serve dinner in the main house.

Day 4: Depending on weather, we will go fishing from the shoreline or with a boat at the Lyngenfjord. We have the fishing rods and we know all the good places for a better fish luck. We will adjust the trip to the best spots! We mostly catch cod and sea trout in the Lyngenfjord but there can also be other types of fish on the hook. We will teach you how to use the fishing rods and how to prepare the fish.

If you catch something, the chef will prepare it for you in the evening and will serve it for dinner.

Day 5: A day for own experiences.  Take a ride down to the village Lyngseidet (10 km), go hiking in the beautiful area or try to fish again. If you like, you can book a horseback ride again. There are many possibilities!

After dinner, we will do a midnight sun tour. We are driving to the northernmost point of the Lyngen peninsula, from where you can watch the sun at midnight over the open sea – that is amazing and a once in a lifetime experience.

On the way, we can stop at several historical places, do some short walks and listen to exciting stories about the region. We will be back after midnight.

Day 6: This day is for relaxation and own activities. If the weather is bad earlier this week, we can adjust this day.

Day 7: After breakfast, you have to say good-bye and we will bring you back to Tromsø.

Inclusive: Accomodation in double room in a cabin, half board, 4 guided activities with lunch, self-made lunch package on day 5 and 6, transfer from/to Tromsø, transfers to the activities
