Farsund

Trekk to Salslottet hillfort

A marked trail up to the hill fort Salslottet, which is one of the largest and well-preserved hill forts in Vest-Agder which dates back to the roman and migration period.

The trail passes through deciduous forests and cultured farmland, and from the top you have "strategic» views towards among others Lista Fjord and Hidra.

Arrival and Parking
From Vanse follow the main road to Ore FV463, and then take a right and follow the main road towards Gjervollstad .From the top of Sigersvoll down to Sigersvoll Beach there is a steep dirt road on the right side of the road - it says "private toll road " on the sign , but you can park your car just before the barrier on the top of the hill . Here you will find trail signs.

Follow the sign to Frøysti . After 400m on the dirt road you will arrive to an intersection, follow signs towards Salen . 250m to  the farmstead Salen , these days there are vacation homes and grazing sheep . The marked trail starts here.

After a couple of hundred meter the path forks - the right path is the shortest , but also the steepest , and using rope ( tied on site ) you will come up a cliff approx.. 8-10m. It is approx. 250m from the path to the top.

The left path leads through Salstjørna south of Salslottet, then rise from the west. Not particularly steep. It is a total of 550m from the pathway to the top.
