Description

Organisation founded in 1883 "to promote skiing to the people and to organise the Holmenkollen ski races".

Skiforeningen (The Association for the Promotion of Skiing) currently has approximately 60,000 members, and the main objectives remain the same.

Skiforeningen organises Norway's largest ski school, Holmenkollen Ski Marathon, Children's Holmenkollen Ski Event and the annual World Cup Nordic skiing events in Holmenkollen.

The organisation is also responsible for maintaining the Holmenkollen national ski arena and several sports lodges in the Marka forest.
