Håvardsrud Saeter

It is a great experience to come to a mountain pasture where the cows are grazing, and watch work being done the way it has been for hundreds of years

The Håvardsrud saeter farm has mainly been a dairy farm, but it was always necessary to diversify to be able to make a living there.

For a long time it has had both a home summer farm an a summer mountain farm, but the summer mountain farm has been disused since 1958.

In the summer of 2005, they again started using Mydalen as a traditional seter. The high mountain pasture that their 10 milk cows graze on, gives the milk a wonderful taste and quality, so they can make tasty rjome (sour cream) and cheese.

From the cream they make mountain butter and rjomegraut (sour cream porridge) that they can serve for you in the new hut.

The old buildings have been restored, and you can feel and smell the old atmosphere.

It is a great experience to come to a mountain pasture where the cows are grazing, and watch work being done the way it has been for hundreds of years in this part of the world.
