Description

Saboteur's trail is the path the world-famous Norwegian resistance used during the 2 World War the night they would blow up the heavy water plant.

The tour starts from Rjukan Fjellstue. Telemark Bussreiser has daily departures (except Saturday) from Rjukan at 12.15 from Rjukan Bus Station. For timetable see www.telemarkbil.no

If you drive a car, follow the RV 37 to Rauland. Rjukan Fjellstue is located about 11 km from Rjukan.

From Rjukan Fjellstue you follow the gravel road for a little while, then it turns east, through varied forest - and mountain terrain.

Along the way there are information boards that tell you the history when Norwegian saboteurs went from Hardangervidda, and down the steep gorges to Rjukan to blow up the heavy water plant.

The trail is 8 km long and takes about 2 hours. The spectacular nature makes the trip even more special. The trail is well marked, with some steep descent towards the end.

Good footwear is essential. On rain days is recommended boots as the trail can be wet and somewhat muddy.

If you need accommodation, Rjukan Fjellstue is a good option.
