Description

Welcome to Byrkjedalstunet! - warm and friendly restaurant and candle-makers. The region's most visited restaurant and factory outlet. Byrkjedalstunet is an old cheese house that has been remodelled to become a chandlery and restaurant. Here you can buy candles from the chandlery, and maybe you want to try your hand at making your own candle?

Byrkjedalstunet is a former cheese dairy (1923 - 1973), founded by local farmers in 1920. A vast goat population and great nature surroundings delivered raw materials for the famous "Byrkjedals - cheese". Byrkjedalstunet is located in the beautiful nature surroundings of Rogaland. 1988 we started producing candles in the old-fashioned way: by dipping or by moulding into forms. Today we offer a wide selection of quality candles in our factory shop ( 500m²). In addition to housands of candles, we also sell souvenirs, Norwegian handcraft, gifts, Norwegian wool products, etc. Children can colour their own candles ! Our friendly goats provide fun for the whole family!

The restaurant opened in 1991, next door to the candle-makers. We serve homemade Norwegian fare in the old "cheese dairy". We are especially known for our freerange Herefordcattle, which are breed here in the valley. Every friday we bake bread in our old-fashioned baking oven!

Conference room "Bestastova" - We also have a conference room on the 1.floor, for business meetings.
Get out of your daily working environment: At Byrkjedalstunet you will find a peaceful atmosphere which allows you and your business associates to focus on your purpose of the meeting. Warm colours, comfortable chairs and modern technology provide significant elements for a successful meeting. Reward a successful meeting with a gourmet dinner!

Experience dramatic nature sceneries only 1 hour drive from Stavanger or 1 hour drive from Egersund. We are located 2 minutes drive from "Gloppedalsura", which is the largest scree of Northern Europe. Some of the rocks are as big as houses !! 15 minutes car - drive from Byrkjedalstunet + 20 minutes walk, you will find "Månafossen" which is a spectacular waterfall: 90 meters free fall. Please contact us for menus, prices and special events!

Byrkjedalstunet is OPEN EVERY DAY. OPEN ALL YEAR.
