Museum of Archaeology - with room for the future

Events in beautiful venues centrally located in Stavanger city centre. The Museum of Archaeology gives you the opportunity to add an estetic and cultural experience to your event with reference to ancient history. The architecture and exhibitions provide a stunning and proud frame of your planned meetings and events.

Auditorium and meeting rooms

The auditorium is suitable for up to 120 people and is especially accommodated for lectures, receptions, launches, conferences or other cultural evening events. The Museum of Archaeology can furthermore offer three meeting rooms with portable walls. In total there is room for around 30 people. The venues are directly connected to the exhibitions, the museum's lunch cafe and with a window view to the conservation workshop. The auditorium and meeting rooms all have the proper technical amenities at your disposal.

Original ingredients

The museum's cafe can be used in connection with conferences, receptions and events. The cafe is furthermore a good choice for festive occasions such as christenings, confirmations and private parties. The cafe accommodates for around 120 people. During summer the protected and green garden can be used for welcoming guests or having barbecues. The Museum of Archaeology works closely with Food Story, and for special occasions they can prepare delicious dishes from the prehistoric menu. The menu is based on ingredients that one could also have access to in prehistoric time. The principles for the preparing of the food are the same, however the serving of the food is adapted to the time we are living in at present. It is possible after consulting with the chefs to prepare a menu to suit your tastes. A prehistoric evening at the Museum of Archaeology could for instance include herb roasted langoustines, steamed halibut with herbs and lamb fillet marinated in cranberries.

Tailormade programme

To fully make use of the venues when renting the museum of Archaeology for your event, it could be a good idea to offer a guided tour of the museum to your guests, either in the permanent exhibitions or the changing exhibitions. On demand, the museum could tailormake tours, lectures and activities for your event. The Museum of Archaeology is ideally located close to the city centre of Stavanger, with walking distance to Breiavatnet lake, the railway station, the bus terminal and several hotels.

The address is Peder Klowsgt. 30a. From Domkirkeplassen, choose Olav Vs gate, pass the Rogaland teater (theatre), follow Muségata up the hill and take a right turn just after Stavanger Museum. You are now in Peder Klowsgate.
