High mountains,lush wide valleys and two rivers rich in Salmon make Åfjord a place to be for nature lovers and fishermen.You can hunt,fish,go on photosafari,dive wind surf and take part in cultural activities. You can choose to stay in either hotels,on camp sites or on a farm.

Area: 955km2.
Main industries: Agriculture, fishing, sea farming.

PLACES TO VISIT:
Støvel Waterfalls: 1 km from Årnes centre.
Fredmoen Salmon Lodge: by Støvel falls in Stordals river lies this museum and meeting place.
GildeSeteren Mountain Farm lies in the mountains between Stordalen and Sørdalen. Restored farm buildings.
Harbak Cave, Harbak. The cave is 130 metres deep amd 40 metres high. Marked path from the parking area. 4km nature trail over the moors.
Harbak Exhibition: In Harbak chapel. Cafe.
Linesøya Island Community: Views over the shipping lanes. War monument in the Stemma area. Minature town of Sørgårdsbyen. Nature trails.
Dragseid: The countries largest archaeological site with stone monument and burial mounds.
Sørdalskverna: here you can see the old techniques used for flour making.

ACITIVITIES:
In the countryside: In North Fosen there is a large area that has been regulated as grazing area for tame reindeer. In Sela you can experience the culture and traditions of the Lapplanders, here you can also take a trip to Dåapma and Finnvolleia(Fosens highest point-675m above sea level),starting from Kruven. Freshwater fishing: Momyrv and Stordalsv. Sea\fjord fishing: Excellent conditions. Salmon fishing: Stordals river with Stordals lake has about 20km of salmon fishing waters. Excellent at Nordals river, good small salmon,weather depending.
Diving: Many wrecks and clefts to explore. Tank refill. Diving boat available.
Wind surfing: Stokkøya and Linesøya.Fine sandy beaches.
Small boat hire: Linesøya, Stokkøya, Kuringvågen and Rarvika.
