Description

In the middle of the Lofoten Islands, caught between steep, rugged mountains and the Arctic Ocean, you find the village of Vikten and the artist couple Aase and Aasvar Tangrand.

As the first one in northern Norway, Aasvar started his glassblowing career in 1977. In his hut you can see the glass-blower in action. Lofotruna (The Lofoten Rune) symbolizes man's connection to sea and fisheries through thousands of years.
Lofotruna is the logo for the couple's enterprise in Vikten.

In Keramikktårnet (the Pottery Tower) Aase is in control, making magic with clay, creating handcrafted articles. Together with Aase you will also find Berit Arctander, another ceramist.

Occasionally you can see the ceramist, or one of her assistants, in action. The Pottery Tower and the Glass Blower’s Hut are both open to the public throughout the summer. Special arrangements on request.

Hungry?
Visit our cafe.
Relax with a coffee, homemade cakes or food.

Take a walk along the beach or along one of our foot paths.

The Moraine Path
An easy walk. Start by the Glasshut and walk up to the plateau behind the village. Continue walking and the path will lead you to Vasskrok vatnet (the Vasskrok Lake) and back to the main road. The path is marked.

The Tangrand Path
An easy walk. A walk along the sandy beach with its rolling stones. If you follow the beach all the way to Hornneset, you will reach the northern point of Flakstdøy. Taking this walk, you can, with a bit of luck, enjoy the midnight sun or a magic misty landscape.

Mountain hike
Choose one of the paths leading from Vikten over the mountains to Nappskaret, Sandnes or Myrland.
