Description

Rauland is a superb area for cross-country skiing, with a network of well-groomed trails totalling 150 km in length.

All the trails have two or more tracks and run through a mixture of forest and mountain terrain, so you will always find a trail suited to the weather.

Approx. 60 km of the net is prepared for free style. What's more, the trail network is so diverse and extensive that you won't need to cover the same ground several times, but can instead enjoy new experiences every day.

A trip through Silkedalen from Vierli or Rauland Skisenter is well worth trying. The trails here are right up in the mountains, passing through a beautiful and varied landscape. You can begin or end most trips by catching the ski bus, depending on where you're staying in Rauland.

To ensure a long cross-country season, Rauland has a flood lit artificial snow trail from the start of November between Rauland Høgfjellshotell and Vierli Turistsenter. There is aslo a continous lit trail of 8 km from Rauland centre to Attføringssenteret. The slopes are lit until 10.00 pm daily.

On www.visitrauland.com you can find information about the weather, together with a track log for the machines preparing the cross-country tracks.

A trail map published by the local sports club can be purchased from the tourist information centre or accommodation providers, at a cost of NOK 50. The map shows trail distances, crossing numbers and slope colours.
