Description

Mogen Turisthytte lies innermost, at the west end of Lake Møsvatn. It has long been a gateway to the Hardangervidda Plateau and is one of the oldest lodges on the Plateau. Mogen Turisthytte has 49 beds in 18 rooms and has both two-bunk and four-bunk rooms.

In winter, there's fine skiing and ice fishing, and there are events at Easter.

In summer, the trip to Mogen is an experience in itself. From Skinnarland on National Road 37, the Fjellvåken II passenger launch offers scheduled services over Lake Møsvatn. The trip takes about two hours. From the deck you can view unusual sights, including the Møsstrond hamlet, with many roadless farms, some of them still active. For the Fjellvåken II sailing schedule, visit the Rauland Turist AS website.

In winter, transport may be booked from Varland, or you can ski about 30 km over the frozen Lake Møsvatn.

Access: By car or bus to Skinnarland on National Road 37, and onward by scheduled passenger launch across Lake Møsvatn.
