Description

Right in the heart of Sapmi you will find the small village of Kautokeino and home to the Thon Hotel Kautokeino. With panoramic views of the tundra, hunting and fishing, skiing and hiking trails right outside the door, Thon Hotel Kautokeino a unique conference hotel specializing their hotel and conference experiences through activities based on the Sami culture.
We offer unique and exotic experiences which vary according to the seasons as hunting, fishing, snowmobile safari, Sami culture, arts, crafts and a restaurant menu inspired by Sami and local produced food. In the wintertime in Kautokeino we offer days of incredibly beautiful light and the breathtaking Aurora borealis. It can also be extremely cold with degrees down to -20 to -35 degrees, which also is a great experience. The nature is magical on the coldest days. We have a sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi disposable for our guests where you also can hunt for the northern lights. The hotel has both bikes, ski equipment, winter clothing and snowmobiles for rent. The hotel is also working with local tourism operators in Kautokeino offering package tours and adventures for groups of 4-30 people. See the overview of our activities on site www.thonhotels.no/kautokeino

The hotel has 65 rooms and conference facilities for up to 100 people. Our largest conference room can accommodate about 100 people in a classroom set-up and have a Lavvu shaped glass roof and large windows all around the room, giving a feeling of sitting right out on the tundra. Endless views over the tundra, northern lights and the village of Kautokeino. Wireless internet is available in all rooms for our guests.

The tourist information is also placed at the hotel offering among other available information and maps of the village, fishing, berry picking and hunting areas.

How to get to Kautokeino?
From Gardermoen Airport, it takes only 2 hours by airplane to Alta, where the tour begins with a 1.5 hour drive by bus or car across the white beautiful tundra towards Kautokeino. Thon Hotel Kautokeino is located right in the heart of Kautokeino with good hiking and ski trails that start right outside the hotel entrance.
