Lillehammer Art Museum

Lillehammer Art Museum is a private foundation and was established 01.04.1994. The foundation is a further development of the 67 year old institution, Lillehammer Bys Malerisamling. The permanent collection comprises Norwegian visual art from the 1830s up until today, and museum also hosts temporary exhibitions featuring Norwegian and international art.

Lillehammer Art Museum is one of Norway’s leading art museums. The collection consists of over 1500 works dating from the 19th century to the present day. Part of the collection is always on show. The museum building was designed by Snøhetta for the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994.

Summer and winter 2015 the exhibition "DATING ART - meeting points in Norwegian art" is displayed. Several pieces central to the Norwegian art history is to be seen in this echibition.

The Museum Shop - The museum shop sells art books and Norwegian decorative art objects.

The Museum Cafe - The museum café sells lunch dishes and a wide choice of freshly baked bread and cakes.

Due to restoration and expanding of Lillehammer Art Museum parts of the museum and the art garden are unavailable and closed until February 2016.
