Langedrag Nature Park - An Experience you will Remember.

Langedrag is located in a particularly scenic setting. The Langedrag Houses are like a fairy tale castle. Located 1000 meters above sea level overlooking the lakes and mountains between Hallingdal and Numedal.

Construction of the farm started in 1978. Together with their family Eva and Edvin K. Thorson set out to realize their dream of a farm where visitors can get unique experiences with closeness to animals and nature.

Edvin is also the founder of EKT String Vest and EKT Riding School located at Ekeberg in Oslo. Both the string vest and Langedrag are developed on the philosophy that "Nature is our best teacher." Tuva Thorson is the one who runs the place today, and she does it in accordance with her mantra "Listen to Nature's Voice"

In the Langedrag Nature Park yard grown ups and children can experience close encounters with many of our pets. In the Nature Park you can stroll around and closely study the wild animals, such as wolves, lynxes, foxes, wild boars and reindeer. In the area around the farm you will find grazing moose, deer and caribou. With great respect for nature's own selection over millions of years, we have tried to take care of the most primitive breeds within each species. Some examples of this are:

 - Goats like the European Wild Goat, Goat Bezoir.

- Norwegian Pony with the wild horse colours.

- Mouflon, the sheep ancestor.

- Highland Cattle, well adapted to the rugged mountains at Langedrag.

- Fjord Horse, directly descended from the original Wild Horse Prezwalski.

On the farm there are around 20 different species of animals and birds, with a total of about 250 individuals. We also have our own dairy and milk from our 50 milk goats.  In our dairy we make brown and white cheese that we sell on the farm.

Langedrag Nature Park was previously a part of Project Arctic Fox for helping to save the Norwegian fox population. Puppies from Langedrag have already been released into the Oppdal and Finse area of Norway. Langedrag also participates in the European Wolf Breeding Collaboration, and several European zoos have received wolves from us.

Activities you can Participate in:

- Experience wolves and lynxes at close range.

- Visit the arctic fox and hold it in your lap.

- It's indeed a rare sight to see somebody approach wolves and "talk" the wolf language.

- Experience the King of the Forest, the Moose, in one of Europe's largest moose enclosures.

- Visit the reindeers and feed them from your hand.

- Join in and milk the goats. Enjoy a horseback ride, or try a vaulting (balancing on horseback).
