Description

Målsnes is a hamlet approx. 8 km from the centre of Balestrand in the direction of Høyanger. From there a narrow 7 km forest road leads up the valley of Saurdal.

The woodpecker's forest is located half way up the Saurdal valley road. There is a parking area. You will find a fine playground and recreation area, ideally suited for families with children. There are wooden cabins up in the trees, lean-to's on the ground, a barbecue area and various kinds of playground equipment. A perfect place for playing and learning about nature.

At the top of the forest road (7 km), at approx. 600m above sea level there is another parking area. This is an ideal point for hiking in the mountains
